chris brown and twitter--trouble keeps brewing!

Twitter can be your best friend and worst enemy, often at the same time. For Chris Brown, the instant gratification microblogging service has helped him rebuild his fan base in the wake of his 2009 assault on once and possibly current girlfriend Rihanna.

But, it has also been the scene of a number of high-profile, profane beefs with other artists, comedians and stars that have added to a perception that Brown is a bit too quick to hit "send."

The latest dust-up, with comedian and TV producer Jenny Johnson,
 erupted over the weekend and resulted in Brown deleting his Twitter for the second time in three years.

But the beef with Johnson is just the tip of the Twitter iceberg for Brown, who has frequently taken to the service to post controversial pictures, defend himself against critics and promote his music and many spin-off products.

December 2009: Brown deleted his @mechanicaldummy Twitter account after an epic rant against music retailers
 and the music industry for what he claimed was "blackballing" of his Graffiti album in the wake of the Rihanna assault.

December 2010: In the wake of a series of homophobic tweets
 aimed at former B2K singer Raz-B, Brown issued a Twitter apology. "Yesterday was an unfortunate lack in judgment sparked by public Twitter attacks from Raz-B, who was bent on getting attention," Brown said of the virtual feud, which was sparked by a comment Raz made suggesting that Brown disrespects women.

June 2011: In the midst of the praise being heaped on singer Frank Ocean, Brown tweeted out a seeming dis, comparing the Odd Future crooner to some lesser-known singers. Ocean shot back with a tweet reading, "I Fawks wit chris brown, reminds me of a young sisquo or ike turner." Brown didn't appreciate the slight, firing off a series of tweets in which lashed out at Odd Future and appeared to be invite them to settle it in the street before eventually quashing the beef. The back-and-forth came a few months after Brown had tweeted his feeling that he just didn't get OF's "demonic music" style, which had sparked a Twitter feud with of leader Tyler, the Creator.

November 2011: After a profanity-filled tirade venting his frustration about the focus on the Rihanna attack, Brown deleted his entire Twitter timeline. "Don't say sh-- to anybody and everyone feels its cool to attack me," he wrote. "GROWN ADULTS!!!! That sh-- happened three years ago ... people please grow up. Ive never dealt with so much negativity in my life! its to the point now that its just ridiculous!"

February 2012: Following a Grammy win and performance, Brown got into it with both WWE wrestler CM Punk and country singer Miranda Lambert.
 The Punk beef came after Brown posted a tweet suggested that the wrestler was juicing, which resulted in an invitation from the WWE star to settle it in the ring. "I don't have an assistant, I have no need for a PR team what to tweet or when to delete tweets, and I don't hit women. Period," wrote Punk. "In my world women are to be revered and respected and I firmly believe that in this life there are consequences and repercussions for people's actions."

Similarly, Lambert took issue with Brown's appearance at this year's Grammys, writing, "I don't get it. He beat on a girl ... not cool that we act like that didn't happen." That comment let to a Twitter rant from Brown (that was subsequently deleted), in which the singer addressed his haters,
 "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate F**K OFF!" A spokesperson for Brown later claimed that the tweets were not personally posted by Brown and that he requested they be taken down.

May 2012: MMG rapper Meek Mill got Brown fired up by suggesting that he'd hooked up with Rihanna. That prompted Brown to tweet, "She's a dream chaser! There are a lot of dreamers so she'll be running forever," making a play on the name of Mill's mixtape name.

June 2012: Following a brawl at a New York nightclub between his crew and Drake's people, Brown tweeted out a photo of a gash on his chin that he claimed was a result of the bottle-smashing melee.

October 2012: Broth Brown and his mother took to Twitter to defend his controversial decision to dress as an Arab warrior for Halloween,
 complete with turban, flowing robes and fake weapons.
